Shape Up!

An important part of being a responsible pet owner is making sure your furry friend stays in shape at a healthy weight for their individual needs. Overweight pets are more at risk for health problems such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and arthritis.

Check out Bark & Fitz’s tips for developing a healthier lifestyle for your pet!

GET STARTED!

  • Check in with your vet! Your vet can recommend a workout plan for your pet and help catch any underlying health concerns that could pose a risk during exercise

  • Build with nutrition! Make sure your pet’s diet covers all of their nutritional requirements and offers enough calories for their individual needs. Don’t hesitate to consult your vet for guidance.

  • Slow down on the snacks! Moderating treats or offering a healthier alternative can help your pet lose some pounds.

TIP: Treats aren’t the only way you can show your pet some love. Extra playtime, or a bonus cuddle go a long way!

  • Start slow! Your pet needs time to build their strength and endurance

FIDO!

Pick the right play! Your dog’s energy levels will differ according to their breed and individual needs.

TIP: High energy breeds needs AT LEAST 60 minutes of exercise every day

WHISKERS!

Get creative! Encouraging your cat to exercise will require you to think like a cat and bring the wild inside.
